Short Bio

Dr Sophie is an experienced Clinician who is committed to providing ethical person-centred and evidence-based medical care.  She completed her medical degree at Cape Town University in 2002, and subsequently worked in Emergency Departments in South Africa and United Kingdom, before settling in Australia since 2013. To expand her medical experience and fuel her passion for travel, she also worked aboard a cruise liner and several remote sites in various parts of the world. In 2022 Sophie transitioned to work in General Practice and is near completion of her ACRRM specialisation as a Rural and Remote Generalist. She continues to work part time at LGH Emergency Department, and is currently upskilling with an Advanced Emergency Diploma.

Her areas of interest include  Acute Medicine, Maternal and Child health, Men’s Health, Geriatrics, Mental Health and minor skin procedures.

On a personal note, Sophie enjoys hiking, photography, literature, music, travel and being exposed to different cultures around the globe. She loves spending quality time with her family and the menagerie of animals at home.
